The 15th Annual Women and Ischemic Heart Disease Symposium will explore sex and gender-specific issues in ischemia with no obstructive CAD (INOCA), social media and social justice issues in women’s heart disease, exercise and management of heart disease in cardiac rehabilitation, atrial fibrillation and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) in women, and approaches to imaging including noninvasive coronary angiography (CTA) in women’s heart disease. Attendees are also invited to attend an optional open discussion with faculty at the conclusion of the conference. The purpose of this conference is to close the knowledge gaps of physicians and allied healthcare professionals regarding gender- and sex-specific differences in cardiovascular disease, the impact these differences have on treatment options, and the importance of identifying women at risk for cardiovascular disease, by utilizing the most current evidence-based treatment strategies for optimizing patient-centered care.
- Recognize the importance of social media and women’s heart health leadership and advocacy to advance cardiovascular medicine
- Identify the social determinants that can influence women’s health to more effectively communicate with patients about health-related conditions and behaviors
- Apply best practices in screening young women for heart disease and managing women with heart disease, atrial fibrillation, heart failure and diabetes
- Explore sex differences in virtual medicine, including remote monitoring, cardiac rehabilitation exercise, adherence, and symptomatic condition
